Firth of Fifth

You know, sometimes I think that Jamaica Plain is hard to get to for a reason.
My mom and I spent 2 HOURS looking for the damn Faulkner Hospital.
We almost ended up in Dorchester, but I quickly pointed this out and we promptly turned around =)
Well, after we finally found it, we turned back around and went back to Cambridge because her appt. is in January. She was just making sure she could find the hospital (Thank god she had me to help her this time and she did it in advance....)
ANYWAY, I spent $50 in Whole Foods, and $6 of it was ill-spent on GOD AWFUL spirulina and wheat-grass drink mix-in thing.
I think I just drank low-tide.
And I'm not even going to mention how much I spent on dinner there.
$7 per pound??? That's insane.
At least the one in New York has an Indian food section.
And a Jamba Juice =)
Oh NY, how I miss you.
Oh Boston, how glad I am to have you, and that you're not NY.

Top Albums of 2007!

Ah yes, it's that time of year again. The time of year when the year is almost over and I get a chance to list what I think were the 10 best albums of the year. So, without any more drabble, here they are:

**By the way, these are MY top 10 albums. They are not the top selling, top played, nor has anyone voted on them. This list is entirely from my own mental creation. The omission of a song does not mean it was "bad", I just personally chose to not mention it. After this public service announcement, I encourage opinions and feedback =)

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
The Hives - The Black and White Album
The Good, the Bad and the Queen - The Good, the Bad, and the Queen
Bloc Party - A Weekend in the City
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion

THE TOP TEN:

10.Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

9. The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

8. Albert Hammond Jr - Yours to Keep

7. The White Stripes - Icky Thump

6. The Horrors - Strange House

5. Rufus Wainwright - Release the Stars

4. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga

3. Dropkick Murphys - The Meanest of Times

2. Kaiser Chiefs - Yours Truly, Angry Mob

1. Peter, Bjorn and John - Writer's Block

Smells Like Teen Spirit

I miss the 90's.

I really do.

Watching the 100 best songs of the 90's makes me nostalgic.

How bad is that?? I'm getting nostalgic for something that was still happening 10 years ago! Even 8 years ago it was still the 90's!! (for a few more days anyway)

(Follow the jump....)

Welcome to things about the 90's I can't believe I'm going to reveal:

OK I was obsessed with Hanson.
I would go to my friend's house and listen to TLC and Destiny's Child.
I wanted to be Posh Spice.
I LOVED the song Hit Me Baby One More Time.
I wanted to marry everyone in the Backstreet Boys and N*SYNC
I still remember all the words to all this shit.

Now, here's something I love admitting - The Albums I Used to Wear Out When I Was Like 5:

Primus - Pork Soda
RHCP - What Hits?!
Alice in Chains - (I don't remember which specific album)
Stone Temple Pilots - ( ' ' )
The Police - Synchronicity (OK. Yeah, I know this isn't from the 90's. But I listened to it so much that I can't NOT put it in here)

My dad used to plop me down in front of music videos when I was ittle and he had to take care of me. Apparently I didn't move for hours I was transfixed =D So, basically, I grew up on grunge and whatnot <3

Wow I miss the 90's.

I think I need to go dig out my old cds =)

Something So Right

Christmas Dinner Part One is done.
I always go to my dad's friends' house for a Christmas dinner thinger a few days before it's really Christmas, and last night was the time to do it.
I must say that it was the best meal I have ever eaten in my whole life:
Foie Gras with cranberry coulee
Baked Chicken with black winter truffles
Truffle and other assorted mushroom Risotto
and the tiniest bit of Sauternes (I would say i consumed less than a tablespoon due to parental restrictions.)

It...was....DELICIOUS.
What have I been missing out on all these years?
There was a former gap in my life that has now been filled by Truffles and Foie Gras.

ANYWAY, I also recieved:
The first 2 Godfather DVDs
The Shining
Amazing Journey (That new Who--> Movie)
Catcher in the Rye
Raise High the Roofbeams Carpenters and Seymour an Introduction
A Cook's Tour
This is Your Brain on Music
CREEM: The Only Rock and Roll Magazine
Every issue of Rolling Stone Magazine on 3 CD ROMs
A $25 gift card to iTunes (Which was promptly spent on John Entwistle, Paul Simon, David Essex and that cool "Der Kommissar" song from the 80s =D )

Sooooo... I hope you all have a very Happy Christmas, since I won't be back on here for a few more days.

These Eyes

It's STILL snowing.

I need to finish wrapping presents.

And frosting cookies.

Because tomorrow is my dad's office X-Mas party, and I'm giving all my 'zenties to my friends then.

Christ, Christmas is Tuesday! (No pun intended)

Yet... I can't wait =)

Alive

Ahhh... I love that new-blog smell =P

ANYWAY, I serve you all a general warning: don't expect to read anything "normal" in here. Nothing of the "status Quo". I, myself, am far from normal after all.

I don't mean I'm gonna be all freaky and weird in here, just not mainstream, MTV-esque "normal."

SO..... now that the "warning" is out of the way.... I'm off to do some Christmas shopping.

Pop by often, please comment, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out =)

PS: You'll probably notice, over time, that I can't write titles for shit.
SO, my post titles will always be the title of the song I'm listening to now =)
